Account of the BPA conference:
At the beginning of this year's Annual General Meeting of the British Psychodrama
Association (March 23-25, 2002, Sheffield University) the chair,Jonathan Salisbury,
invited all present to rise and observe a minute's silence in memory of Gordon
Wiseman, one of the founders of dramatherapy in the UK. Jonathan paid handsome
tribute to Gordon's contribution and character. He is remembered with affection
and regard by the psychodrama profession who appreciated his playfulness and warmth:
his workshops at BPA conferences were always popular and his skills appreciated.
At the end of the formal dinner there was a further tribute to Gordon when three
people, a dramatherapist, a psychodramatist and a playback theatre director reminded
the assembled company of one of Gordon's songs and sang with a heart-felt gusto
that Gordon would have approved of: outside the daffodils bloomed, inside the
hearts of those who knew him were touched with a mixture of pleasure and grief.
'I love the flowers
I love the daffodils
I love the mountains
I love the rolling hills
I love the fireside
when the lights are low
